VACANCY: UPTON PARISH COUNCIL - PARISH CLERK/RESPONSIBLE FINANCE OFFICER

Upton Parish Council has a vacancy for a Parish Clerk and Responsible Finance Officer.

Part time, 20 hours per week, from home.

Applications are invited from ambitious and pro-active individuals, keen to make a difference and help the Parish Council achieve its objective to be responsible and engaged with the community.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration of the business and finances of the council. The role requires excellent communication skills and strong organisational ability. The ability to work under your own initiative, manage pressure and meet deadlines is essential. You must be computer literate with strong proficiency in Excel and Word a must.

Evidence of community engagement, report and letter writing and committee work, is desirable. Knowledge of local government and of parish councils and a commitment to good practice would be helpful although not essential.

The post includes some evening work and attendance at meetings within the working hours per month.

The successful applicant must hold a Certificate in Local Administration (CiLCA) or commit to achieving this qualification within one year of appointment, if not already obtained. Training costs will be met by the council.

A friendly and positive outlook is essential.

The post is part time (20 hours), working from home (attendance at Parish Council meetings up to once a month is required).
